CPO is an abbreviation for "Chief Petty Officer" and is said to have originated from the uniforms worn by chief officers of the United States Navy.
It's called a shirt, but it's basically an outerwear piece.

A very useful black wool shirt. It's the kind of shirt you can find anywhere, but it's surprisingly hard to find when you look for it, so I picked it up this time. It's a solid old 70's shirt, but it's reasonably priced.
